Talking of irritating country songs, Tammy Wynette's "No Charge" really winds me up. Perfect example of a 'smug' parent throwing it all back in their kid's face!
I can't stand the "family" country songs, even if it's just a guy talking about how he wants the woman to be his kids' mom. Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" is an earsore. . .there's another one called "I Loved Her First" which is basically about a dad giving his daughter away at her wedding. Really sappy.
Most of today's country artists are pretty lousy, anyway. Taylor Swift needs to go away. Every one of her songs is a whine-fest about being the unpopular, dorky, shy girl. Plus, she just creeps me out.
I still like the "dark" country music and bluegrass, especially the accoustic stuff (without twangy steel guitars). That's stuff I can relate to.

Oh, yes, YES, YES. I've hated that song from the moment I heard it. Nobody will ever sing that little ditty about me,......WAH! I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus sucks too. But let's save that for the fun filled holiday season.
i can't think of the group offhand but i really hate the song "arms wide open".it's basically about a guy who learns that his wife is expecting and who his life is going to change(well duh?) and all this stupid crap.i turn it off in the car immediately when i hear it.

That would be Creed. I thought that song was sappy even before I was totally CF. Also, the dude tries way too hard to sound like Eddie vedder and fails.
I HATE "With Arms Wide Open." It was overrated and overplayed. I'm not a fan of country music either. Some of the older stuff I'm okay with, but I think I would drive a q-tip to my eardrums if I was forced to listen to country for the rest of my life, I don't care what it's about.

All country songs, even the ones not about famblee or any of that, seriously piss me off. The annoying twang of it is enough to send me into a rage. Country music is banned from my house, violations punishable by getting beaten by one of my broken carbon fiber arrow shafts I keep around in case I need to smack someone around.
Except for the carbon fiber arrow shaft beatings, same here. NO NEW COUNTRY ALLOWED. I don't mind old stuff - Johnny Cash, etc. - those songs are OK. I cannot stand the new stuff though. I want to stab Toby Keith, the worst offender of all, with a ski pole. They've been playing a commercial for some new album of his on TV. Every time I see it I just want to choke him to death.
