Just for "fun", I thought I'd ask you guys about songs about kid- or family-centric themes (or even if it's just a line or two that is mentioned) that you find annoying! My personal #1 LOATHED song would be Mr. Mom by Lonestar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VJkFhpE1Pg (ignore the lyrics on the screen; they're terrible).

Just the sound of it is annoying, even if it weren't about childed life. Songs like this give country a bad rep. It's horrid. But it's the worshipping of mothers that really annoys me.

My SAHM sister adores this song--I think she thinks it's her vindication song. Like, see, I really am the chef/hairstylist/chauffeur/doctor/therapist/manager/cleaner that deserves to be paid 600K a year!!! Look at all I do! FFS, I gotta ORGANIZE THE CRAYONS ONE DRAWER HIGHER--I'm saving the world!

All country songs, even the ones not about famblee or any of that, seriously piss me off. The annoying twang of it is enough to send me into a rage. Country music is banned from my house, violations punishable by getting beaten by one of my broken carbon fiber arrow shafts I keep around in case I need to smack someone around.

"Fancy" by Reba McIntire -- my impoverished breeder moo turned me into a prostitute, alright!

"I've Never Been to Me" -- oh, vomit.

"Redneck Woman" -- see vomit, above.

Pretty much all of that sentimental tripe glorifying breedermoos and duhs hits my ear like nails on a blackboard.

   I forgot about that one. That is a perfect example of a bad breeding song.

@Arcane Rose: "Fancy"--definitely appropriate!! Er, inappropriate. Whatever. ;)

So crown_vic, does that mean you only play Western music in your house (Blues Brothers reference)?

To comment on the actual subject of the thread: Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach". In some ways worse that "Having my baby" -- at least that couple probably isn't going to ruin their lives, along with the life fo the kid in question.

I can't think of any songs about kids and families, but I will tell you what I hate ... and that is when adults continuously try to entertain kids in public by singing "The Wheels on the Bus" or " I'm a Little Teapot" etc.

Hey - STFU or go home and sing, dammit!

WTF is it about country songs and kids?!

Talking of irritating country songs, Tammy Wynette's "No Charge" really winds me up. Perfect example of a 'smug' parent throwing it all back in their kid's face!
