I made my usual mistake of not reading a recipe all the way through before starting it.

I was supposed to make fettuccine bolognese and I started at 5PM. We like to eat around 6:30PM.

First I made dressing for the salad, then I made a salad, we ate that as a first course around 5:30PM (the wife hadn’t had lunch), then I started on the sauce.

Chopped onions, carrots, celery, garlic, all into a pot with oil to cook for 10 minutes, then in with some beef and pancetta for several minutes, then some wine for a few, then some beef stock and crushed tomatoes.

“Simmer, with lid ajar, 45 minutes. Stir, then cover and simmer an additional 45 minutes.”

Crap. Oh well: “Honey, it’s going to be more like 7:30PM, is that too late?”

After the first 45 minutes, I was reading ahead to see about when to get the pasta going, then saw this after the second simmer:

“Add milk, then simmer for 35 minutes.”

No fettuccine for us last night. It’ll be better tonight, though. :)

It’s been snowing most of the day here, so I’m making beef carbonnade. Beef, beer, onions, bacon - yum!

I’m going to serve it over noodles, and husband’s going to make some salad to go with. Might also have some sauerkraut with it.

I bought an air fryer yesterday, so tonight Im making steak and potato wedges in it. Last night I made chicken tenders and asparagus. The potatoes are cooked nicely, although the seasoning could use some work :D The steak is cooking at this moment.
