Haha! I live near Cardiff so I'm not quite sure it's the same as the valleys but definitely breeder-central, but then everywhere I've lived in the UK has been!
One of my favourite UK cities is Glasgow, but I'm not sure as to it's number of children. Being in one of the colder regions, it might have more than the rest of the country, I mean, what with it being so cold, Glaswegians could be forgiven for being so procreative, it's a question of sex or shiver.
So I hear The thing is though, everyone knows about condoms nowadays, it's just that some Glaswegians are too lazy to put down their Irn Bru and rip open a packet!

Can anyone recommend a relatively CF area in the UK? I am currently living in Wales and it's breeder-central in my area (plus everyone seems to sport a delightful skin shade of tangerine). I am fortunate to be able to move where I like next year as I work from home and will be doing a long-distance university course so I'd love to move somewhere in the UK that is not densely populated, has lots of green and few chavs/ screaming kids although I don't know how likely that is! Thanks! xx
golden_gurl, for some reason I thought you lived in the US!
Manchester doesn't seem to be particularly not childfree, although that's probably just because I live in the city centre. Unfortunately it's densely populated, not very green and overrun with chavs, so probably not what you're looking for!
Haha! I wonder why starbelly. Perhaps it's because my best friend is from Washington and everyone thinks I've become Americanised since meeting her! I was in Manchester a couple of weeks ago, en route to Newcastle and thought it was pretty nice. Living in the city centre however and getting a feeling of it not being un-CF is a good sign because whenever I go to the city centre here, there are oddles of pram-pushers and chavs with a clan of kids. Extremely depressing. Maybe I should move to Manchester...at least I'd have one CF friend there!

I do love Manchester and would recommend it to anyone as a cool place to live, IF you want to live somewhere with brilliant nightlife, shops, bars etc - I know that's not for everyone. It's not the prettiest city in the UK, but having lived in Cambridge for two years and getting completely and utterly bored (gorgeous city, abolutely nothing to do there!), I'd take ugly but fun over pretty but boring every time.
I think one of the best things about living in the city is that there are very few families/kids living in city centre apartments. My best friend lives in a terraced house in the suburbs with small children on either side, and you can hear them through the walls as if they're in the room with you. I don't know what it's like to be kept awake by a neighbour's baby or to have to listen to squealing children playing outside my window.
If you did move to Manchester, I'd be more than happy to show you around!
Manchester sounds fun! I'm originally from Glasgow (as JerryHatTrix correctly guessed) and moved away because I was bored of the city and the chavs! I have always wanted to live somewhere 'pretty' i.e. Oxford, Cumbria, Bath, Devon but I know I'd probably feel a bit bored after a while. Eugh, living with kids on either side of you is my idea of hell!

I've lived in north Manchester for over 10 years now and I love living here. I'm not in the city centre so unfortunately I have a few little bratlings around where I live, but I'm able to ignore them for the most part!
