Well, I had an abortion. 16 years later no regrets. Don't want kids. Would be relieved if I was infertile (I love the crazy backlash one can get for that confession from infertile women on TMC or something), but suspect I am not hence I have an IUD. If it was not for my love of the IUD and preference to avoid surgery, I'd get sterilization.

Again, just because SHE does not know any women who "does not want kids at any point in their life" does not mean they do not exist. There are FORUMS of women who would prove her wrong (well, unless they were just smart women being manipulated, I guess!).

Would she really tell women who are infertile that they are not women? Because that is what she is insinuating with her "the ability to bear children is what makes me a woman". Gag me with a fucking spoon. If the only thing that provides you an identity as a woman is an ability to "bear children", you are living a rather unfulfilled life.

If her views on life change with every relationship she has had it sounds like she has a pretty weak sense of self awareness and is highly dependent on others to provide her with her meaning or identity.

Kids make the world a better place for WHO? Personally, I think the adults are the ones who are doing things like researching disease cures. The kids just play, shit diapers and bring on the parent-drama. What a generalized statement, anyway. That guy that went and killed 12 people in Aurora? Yeah, he was someone's kid. Who did he make the world a better place for?

Why is she so protective over what OTHER women choose for themself? Would she want me to tell her she is not allowed to reproduce as I don't think the population should continue forward? No? Then why the fuck is she telling others what they can do or feel?

What a dumb bint. Don't want a tubal? Don't get one. But leave other women alone rather than stripping them of their reproductive rights. If people respect the decision to have kids, they should respect the decision to not have kids, ever.

Your friend is in what we call a "circular reference" in spreadsheet-world. She's saying that we should protect women by not allowing them to have tubals because their men might be forcing them to have tubals they don't want. Yet she clearly thinks that a man has the right to control a woman's reproductive capacity.



Her question would be better stated as "Whose rights should we deny? Those of the man who doesn't want kids and wants his woman to have a tubal ligation? Or those of the man who wants his woman, who previously had a tubal ligation at the direction of another man, to have a tubal reversal so she can bear his children?"
