I have a love/hate relationship with my house. It's a pre-WWII Tudor with little modernization, save for electric and plumbing. We had to put in a new boiler because we have hot water radiators of the old cast-iron variety. We also had to overlay the leaded glass and six-over-six windows with storm windows because the architectural board won't let us change anything on the home's exterior. It costs a ton to heat in the winter, but tends to stay cool in the summer. The slate roof is a pain in the ass. Qhile the snow slides off, tiles tend to go with it, and we have to get slate roof specialists to fix it up. It's a well built home, and for being near a century, is mercifully sound. However the repairs it needs are costly, and it is chilly when it's cold out. And if we need something replaced, like one of the radiators, we have to go to salvage places if we want to keep it authentic. We got it for a steal as theprevious owner died without upgrading it. Of course that means we'll get less, as we haven't upgraded either.

I hate celebrity worship. Especially celebrity baby worship. Why are people so interested in Beyonce's or Amal Clooney's or whoever's pregnancies? There is literally nothing special about a pregnancy. Any moron with working genitals can sprog.

Today was the perfect day to feed my villainy streak. We had to visit a client who is restructuring their retirement plans and healthcare options. The company couldn't be more stoked for the opportunity to shred the healthcare plan even further, should the GOP plan to roll back significant portions of Obamacare pass. All the employees - the older, blue-collar men who no doubt voted for Trump - were right ticked that the two people coming to tell them to sod off with respect to their benefits were an uppity white lady, and a gay black man. I used to feel sorry for these people, but now I just consider them fools who couldn't vote to get fucked fast enough. It's hard to not deliver the bad news to them with a Cheshire cat grin because I know that the fact that I'm a Hillary Clinton in their minds just winds them up all the more. And my not-exactly-closeted, African American partner? Well, his very existence must get their hate fires roaring. That we're there to deliver horrible, horrible news is the cherry on top. It's positively delicious.

I got my electric bill today, got the gas and water bill last week. I noticed that they are now charging me for a paper bill on my elec and gas bill, so I sorted that out and I am now getting them to email me the bill so I don't get charged for.

I was signed up for my internet bill by email, and then I noticed that I only got it every second month. I went back and checked and yep, it wasn't me, it was them, even though they were billing me monthly. It's the same amount every month and comes out automatically anyway, but I just thought that was weird. Did they do it on purpose so they could charge people late fees, or something?

Once I figured that out, I asked them to go back to paper. If it arrives in the mail, at least I know when they change the rates or if anything goes wrong, rather than finding out late.

Where I am they only send bills out every 3 months and they like to charge you a fee for just about everything even how you might choose to pay for the bill. Even if you decide to pay online you can be charged a fee, if you pay by direct deposit or b-pay your ok, but if you pay by credit or bank card you get slugged a % fee. If you want to pay at the post office you get a fee too.

I like paper bills because I have had them miss read meters before and I can use the paper bills as proof they have the numbers wrong, but then they don't like sending out someone to reread the metre and they may charge you for that too.

Yeah, I can't really muster up any sympathy for the dumbfucks who voted for Trump and are getting screwed over by him.

All I wish is that the reasonable people of the country (and of other countries) weren't getting fucked right alongside them.

At least there seems to be resistance growing - the FBI is actually investigating the alleged Russian involvement in the elections. Doubt much will come of it, as it's probably just a dog and pony show, but maybe, just maybe, prior supporters/enablers are realizing that we could have a geopolitical nightmare on our hands. My colleague and I were discussing this over dinner. He says that he just can't believe that people in the US aren't more cognizant of the rapid escalation of the threat of global destabilization. He said it's greatly affecting his household, but that may be due to the fact that he has a Syrian (golden) hamster, a Russian dwarf hamster, and a Chinese hamster. Apparently relations have been quite tense lately

re Russian involvement, I am hoping against hope that somehow the results were fake and that number of people didn't vote for Trump.

^ depressingly, there's no evidence that Russia or any other party altered the votes that were actually cast. That many people actually did vote for Dump.

From what I can tell, Russia just made sure that there was as much smear information against Hilary and the Democrats as possible, mainly by hacking into both the DNC and RNC details and only releasing certain things to give Dump the advantage. And then there's the good old standby of the GOC- using voter suppression methods to prevent/discourage minority communities from voting.
