I finally figured out where all these awful baby names keep coming from. I got tired of trying to think up names for the background characters in the novel I'm working on, so I searched for a name generator. This is what I found: http://www.babynamegenie.com/baby-name-generator

The first name it suggested was "Sage Cody (last name)"

It gets snarky if you hit the "Wish Again" button, too, and tells you that it already gave you the perfect name, but you didn't like it.

LOL!

I hate when people choose crazy names for their kid. It's like they so want to be "different" that they forget this is a real person who has to live with this name for their whole life.

 How about "Parsley", "Rosemary" or "Thyme?", "Marjoram?" "Paprika?" "Basil?" "Saffron?" "Madras Curry?"

"Dill?"

Yeah but you have to spell them with alternate vowels.

"Perslay", "Thime", "Pepryka".

Usually I'm all for giving kids unique or differently spelt names but one name in the "Genie's Mailbag" is really taking the biscuit. Who on earth spells the name Rebecca as "Rebeckahe"? that is taking it too far. o-o

This is reminding me of 'The Herbs', a kids show was I was nipper, some of the older Brits may remember it.

Dill the Dog
Parsley the Lion
Tarrogan the Dragon
Sir Basil
Sage the Owl
Aunty Mint

and the schoolmaster Mr Onions and all his little chives....<sigh> happy days!! :)

I like Dill, or Basil Cody, but you have to pronounce Basil the way the British, do for it to sound proper. :)
