OOooOOooh Viola! LOL. Being flirty can definitely be fun, I just get leery when it turns really sexual really early on. Vik your date sounds promising! I hope it goes well for you.
So, I'm a little confused. SD's texting habits are annoying the crap outta me. I posted earlier that he was all concerned that he hadn't heard from me, while he hadn't texted me either. Then, when I did send him a text saying "Hey how are you? So, what are you up to tonight?" he didn't respond. That was Friday. I got a text from him yesterday saying "Hey trouble! How was your weekend?" So I answered, and asked about his weekend. Again, no response. I'd understand if he answered later, because I know people get busy and not everyone has their phone attached to them at all times, but the not responding at all then hearing from him days later is really getting on my nerves. I just don't get it.

This guy is actually very open about sexual stuff, and has been from the get-go, but it doesn't bother me like it has when other men have done the same thing in the past. It used to bother me until I realized he's not a perv or a rapist, he's just not shy about his sexuality. He's very non-threatening; it's hard to explain. We talk about tons of other things, too. I've been dealing with the same texting BS as you. I know how annoying it is, and unfortunately I don't have any idea how to make it any less frustrating

I think as long as you're clear about your boundaries, there's nothing wrong with being open about sexuality. I wouldn't want to mislead anyone and give the wrong impression, but you can talk about sex while still making it clear you're not looking for a one night stand. It's all about what you're comfortable with and flirting while promising nothing can be a lot of fun.

I've told him what I will and won't do, and he's been fine with it. He told me random hookups and one-night stands aren't his thing, so that's good. I won't do anything I'm not comfortable with. And I'm still on the lookout for a knife or something to carry in my purse. I want something small that can attach to my keychain, but so far all I've found are Swiss Army knives, and I don't want that

I admit that I tend to fall prey to sexual talk early in a relationship, and I let those dang hormones take over. Before I know it, everything has turned sour, save for a relationship or two. I have to keep myself checked, and I found that It's not a good sign if the guy is moving beyond flirting very soon.
Viola, I like your idea of a knife. I have pepper spray myself, but I'm thinking the knife would be slightly less foolproof.

So long as you know how to use it and won't hesitate. If you hesitate and the guy is the type it needs to be used on, it could be used against you.

Pepper spray is illegal in my state, otherwise I would get a small bottle for my purse. I used to have a Swiss Army knife on my keychain until the ring broke off. I don't do guns, so that's out of the question. I would consider a taser or stun gun but I'd want to try it out first. Anybody know where you can buy self-defense stuff?

My stepbrother, who is in the Navy, gave me and my sister a crash course on using a knife, where some points to hit are, etc. I think anything you have to defend yourself could be used against you, like viola said, so it's just a matter of knowing what to do with it. Even pepper spray could be used on me by an attacker!

Very true. It just seems that a lot of people would be quicker to use pepper spray than a knife. If you know what you're doing though, and it seems that you do, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have.

Pepper spray is illegal, but guns aren't? 0.o The US is insane.
