Apparently yes. I just saw this commercial that almost made me throw up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--5L_huhlV0&feature=related

Honestly, who believes that you can have a bunch of kids, still look like you're in your 20s (the mom, not the dad), be a SAHM and live in a modern palace of a house?
But what did I expect, given that the ad is almost literally about Kodak moments (Samsung moments).

Also noticed that the wife/mom only wears skirts? The whole thing reminds me a little too much of Stepford!

That was a little confusing because I got the impression that maybe it was supposed to be over-the-top cheesy? I couldn't tell if that commercial was supposed to be taken seriously, or if it was meant to be funny and just not done very well...

Of course it's unrealistically perfect. It's an advertisement.

Wait a minute, time out...I'm confused by a lot of things. First, who lives in an all white house? With kids and a dog? Then there's that one daughter that looks too old to be the child of that woman, the one wearing the yellow t-shirt and plad jumper at the end. And did you like how Mom was not only cooking but wearing a cute little apron? How much you want to bet she's a housewife. Just...my brain hurts. T_T

What the heck?! That gets the award for weirdest cell phone commercial I've ever seen. It does seem very retro-esque, and not in the best way. Not offensive, but just.... weird. Especially for their target market!

I am most likely abnormal. I wear only skirts/dresses. Our house in so.cal is all white. No sprogs, but we had 3 dogs and 2 cats. So it was not messy. No cooking stepford here. Hubby cooks, leaves all the aftermath for me to clean, which I dont mind.

I don't think it was necessarily being negative in the 1950s sense, but that it was supposed to be some type of retro style commercial. I get that feeling by what everyone is wearing, not just the wife, and some of the furniture in the house. Why they did it like that, I do not know.
I also wear only skirts/dresses. I wouldn't have an all white house, because I don't like it and I'm messy just by myself. Plus, the drool would show from the basset hound. :)

The advert is for a camera phone so I suppose it meant to capture memories and make you get all nostalgic about the wonderful moment in time. Of course we only look at old video and photo and only remember the good parts or our rose coloured glasses of the memory. It’s fantasy or selective memory just like this ad. I can remember going to Europe and taking these fantastic photos and almost completely forgetting at the time I was as sick as a dog.

I really dislike advertising anyway because it's basically propaganda manipulation and all round bullshit. You seen the people that spend 8 hours a day watching TV? You think any of their lives look like that? Does anyone life look like that? Do you think you couldn't enjoy these precious memories without a $700 phone?

The commercial is officially terrible, but I am pretty sure the only reason you only see her in a skirt is because the concept was "a day in the life" soooo....only one outfit.

Total manipulation to make us feel we can have the perfect smiling life if only we buy that phone. Perfect life, of course, is equivalent to "a bunch of kids".
