So I was reading the replies, and wow there are a lot of them, on "I hate being a ******* mother..." (http://www.justrage.com/I_Hate/i-hate-being-a-fucking-mother-and-i-dont-care-if-you-call-me-a-bitch/ only to find this gem.

Quote:
I Love my daughter. I hate my life. If it wasn't expected that we leave the house showered and minimally made up in the morning to "appear" normal. If it wasn't expected that we teach our kids "please" and "thank you". If it wasn't expected that we feed them an "organic diet" with all the food groups. If it wasn't expected that we dress them properly. If it wasn't expected that we make sure they will be able to pay the next generation of Social Security checks of future retirees ... who by the way, didn't want kids of their own but will be jumping for joy when they receive the monthly check that my kid is working her little butt off twice as hard to replace the work of the kid whey didn't want to have, so that they can get it. It pisses me off that I hate being a mother, that I hate not being able to enjoy those things that I SHOULD be able to enjoy and to know, deep inside, that it's not the kid's fault but everything that's around. Oh yeah. We can be mothers anyways. We are just creating the next generation of kids .... who will not want kids. Something needs to happen, man. This blog? It has NOTHING TO DO WITH RAGE!!!! It is a REAL Society phenomenon that needs to be addressed. Personally, I think it's an SOS. I mean ... if mothers stop having children. Think about it!

Why is that I will spend my adult life working, and yet in this woman's eyes I will have paid nothing into my countries "social security"? Am I missing something here? I actually hear this a lot. That if I do not have a child I do not deserve to retire.
This seems so illogical. We all pay in to the system our whole working life to get a little back (assuming in my future there will be any) and yet it will be her little girl working for mine? Like I did nothing?

Has anyone else had people say strange stuff like this before? Am I misinformed and missing some piece to the puzzle that actually would mean if I have no child I will have been a drain on society only? What am I missing here?

If I understand the Social Security system, and I'm not sure I do, you get back what you put into the system during your working years. Or at least, what you get back is based on how much you put into it. That is unless you fall into certain categories like disabled, below poverty level, etc. Theoretically, when you retire, you will be drawing your own money back, and the kids of later generations won't be supporting you one iota.

That is theory ... don't ask me about practice. And I'm probably wrong about the theory, too.

Ultimately, however, that mother is wrong.

Well, we're supposed to get back what we pay into it, but I've been told not to bank on it being there for us when we're older. We can absolutely count on our tax dollars going to pay for public education, though.

She should stop having children, in fact I resent her desire to breed in the first place, there are enough brain-dead, "I did it because I was supposed to", selfish, "I am saving the future", entitled mombies. If she is so concerned about the future of America then she should stop spawning, that would do the country a big favor.

And as for her(and every other parent that complains) "not being able to do the things she SHOULD be able to do" your loss, you knew that a loss of freedom/being able to "do what you want" is part of being a parent, and if you didn't then shame on you for being unprepared. Suck it up and deal with it.

What's so hard about teaching your children to say please and thank you, and making sure they're dressed "properly"? I don't mean in designer clothes all the time I just mean appropriate clothes for the situation. They're just basic elements of being a parent - teach them to be polite and make sure their shoes aren't falling apart!

Given this is something she hates so much she's very keen to make sure her own children become parents and suffer the same fate. :x

The whole post is about blaming others for her hatred of motherhood, and not herself.

Love the "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RAGE!!!" - yes, you're convincing us all with your block capitals and 3 exclamation points.

Silly, misinformed, embittered old sow....No, I've paid for my retirement pension in the 33 years I was working and paying 40% tax and maximum national insurance contributions. Which also, by the way, paid for your maternity leave, your health coverage, you kids health coverage, your kids education, those state allowances and tax breaks your receive for being a breeder.

Not only that, I also made private provision for my retirement, which will not be impacted in anyway by your offspring other than........ me getting less return on my saving and investments because the economy is fucked because you and your ilk continued to breed us into economic and ecologic disaster.

If she hates doing these (basic) things so much then she should just stop. Let CPS come and take the kid...hopefully she'll end up with a family that actually wants her.

Firstly, people are supposed to get back from SS whatever they paid in when they were working. Second, due to the sheer volume of American kids being born each year it's possible that she'll spend more time jobless than employed because there's so much competition. Or maybe this woman thinks that economic depression or recessions won't hit the US again after this one, so there's no chance of her kid ending up like a sizeable number of recent college grads.

So it's everybody else's fault that things like providing basic nutrition and teaching good hygene to the child YOU decided to birth are a burden to you?

I've thought about it. In the short term it means that the smaller subsequent generations may have a chance at a higher quality of life. In the long term it means that human beings may acutally face extincition with some dignity instead mass homicide via wars over resources like food and water (which seems to be the way we're headed now).

This idea works well and not only gets you a break for some much needed me time, it also helps you meet other moms who would be up for play dates and house cleaning dates.
What??? House cleaning dates? Why the hell would anyone want to get together at someone else's house to clean up someone else's mess? Why would the person with such a filthy house want anyone else knowing how bad it is? This is just nuts.
