Hi, Laura Carroll here...Over 30 years ago, the National Organization for Non-Parents (which became National Alliance for Optional Parenthood, or NAOP), deemed August 1 Non-Parents Day. Last year I wrote a post about how it was celebrated in 1973 (http://laviechildfree.com/2011/08/flash ... y-in-1973/).

I am going to post tomorrow on the idea of bringing back Non-Parents Day, and as a step in this direction, give a nod to a favorite non-parent that I know and invite others to write in theirs.

I thought it might be a fun idea to have other childfree blogs and forums do the same on the same day. I know it is short notice, but I invite you to join me with a topic thread doing the same!

Hi Laura, so glad to see a post from you! I'll be celebrating non parents day with you!

Tomorrow is also the first day that the Affordable Care Act begins funding all birth control methods for women. And it's a full moon. I'm pretty excited and will definitely be celebrating!

This is first time I'd heard of it, but it sounds wonderful

My guess is that it didn't make anyone enough money.
