In case you have not seen, my recent post on huff po really got people talking...some call it a bingo fest, but the exposure for the childfree is always a good thing overall, and it is not too late to weigh in!
OMG! You have a full bingo card! (Paraphrasing) You got all the way from the ever popular "We pawents are the only ones who get unconditional WUV!" "We get Sticky kisses and spontaneous 'I wuv you Mommy!'s' that make it all so worth it!" to "We achieve immortality through our loin-squirts" to "But, who will wipe your ass when you're old?" and even a very odd "Someone gave birth to you, so you have to give birth to someone else." LOL!!!!
BINGO! BINGO! BINGO!
Why do parents get so defensive? Especially when they keep whining about not being able to "have it all?" So, now they do have it all? Make up your minds! It's either "too hard" and you need tax breaks and work-concessions or you're life is a rich tapestry of never-ending joy! Which is it, parents?

I'm ready for more of Laura's articles on HuffPo!
What astounds me about the bingos is that HuffPo is generally considered a publication with a far-left leaning readership. And yet some of the folks commenting sound extremely socially conservative. What's with that, anyway? Do Fox readers troll HuffPo.com for shits and grins?

Danisty,
True, that. A male friend — well, acquaintance, really — and his wife are die-hard, far left-swinging liberals (also atheists), and they've cranked out a kid almost every year of marriage and show no signs of stopping. They're at five kids under the age of six now, and he just went out and bought the World's Largest Gas-Sucking Mini-Van (he likes to joke about their level of consumerism on Facebook). Seriously, this McVehicle is big enough for its own telephone prefix. But I digress.
Back to the article ... I would expect people who are liberal thinkers to at least have a "live and let live" attitude moreso than social conservatives. This doesn't seem to be the case, though.

This is my personal idea of hell.
Tell me about it. Pictures of his family life show up on my FB feed, and I feel twitchy. I can't imagine the noise level in that house. If it were me, I'd be going barkingly-psychotic Andrea Yates mad.
I like being around kids, but that's way too many 24/7.
My friend travels 2-4 weeks at a time for work. He travels a lot.

I've also been surprised by liberals vs. conservatives when it comes to CFdom and their reaction to it. The correlation one might expect just doesn't seem to exist.
I grew up (and lived most of my life so far) in Minneapolis Minnesota, a city whose overall culture is so liberal it borders on radical. When I mentioned being CF there, the bingoes would fly like bullets in a John Woo movie.
A couple years ago, I spent some time living in northern Utah (land of the Mormon uberbreeders), a place far to the right of Minneapolis. And for the past year I've been living in Boise Idaho, which is somewhere in between, but still skews substantially further right than my home town. In both places, the bingoes have been few and far between. People react more often with something like, "Yeah, parenthood isn't for everyone. It's good that you've figured out it's not for you."
I'm inclined to expect liberals to be all "live and let live," and conservatives to be more "conform to The Script or else," but that just doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to CFdom.

The bingoes in the HuffPo comments are truly infuriating. Tons of "you don't know what you're missing." Actually, yes, I have a pretty good idea. And even if I don't, I'm still glad I'm missing it.
