Here are the details:
http://www.nwlc.org/resource/contracept ... ust-1-2012

I'm not affected (menopausal - yay!) but I will be interested to see how my employer, a Catholic hospital, is affected by this. I'm not sure if we'll be considered an exempt "religious employer" or not, or if that applies strictly to the church itself. I don't know it it extends to church-affiliated businesses like hospitals.

i just read an article about the contraception coverage.! yeah!as far as i know it's only churches themselves that are exempt. that was all the bruhaha that the catholic church had months ago about not wanting to have to "pay " for contraception. they dont' but the insurance carrriers have to offer it in their plans the ins. companies somehow pay for it and not the catholic institutions. it was a compromise that of course still didnt' satify the church but who the fuck cares! What a great day for women!

I have a high deductible plan and I think it works out to like $63 for a 3 month pack. I have a health savings account that I put money into and can afford it, but I'm sure if someone was working $10/hr, that adds up for them.

There shouldn't be barriers for people to have family planning. Other than education, family planning is one of the most important things to let people escape poverty. I know a lot of people think it is going to cost a lot, but the way I see it, even if it doesn't pay for itself by reducing expensive pregnancies, it will certainly pay for itself with less children on government benefits.

I'm excited about this, but I'm not sure when my plan's anniversary is. I can't remember if it's October or January. Hopefully it's October.
