"But stuff like that only happens once in a blue moon ..."

And statistics are all fine, unless you're the 1 in 100,000 who develops crap like this.

What pregnant woman and mothers hear when they read the article: "Wow! She went from a size 12 to a 6! See! The weight comes off after pregnancy! -ignores all bad stuff because that stuff *never* happens-.

Poor woman. She looks so miserable in her pictures.

I never knew this condition existed either. I would hate to not be able to enjoy my favorite flavors and treats. Poor woman.

That poor, poor women. Giving birth is a serious medical procedure, despite all the blather about it being so "easy" and every animal being able to do it. A woman and child can have serious medical complications.

GAH! I never heard of such a thing- just terrifying. Poor woman. What a horrible life she has now.....I can't even imagine.

Such a crapshoot when you choose to have a baby. IMHO the outcome will always be awful even with the "easiest" pregnancy or "easiest" kid, but no one ever plans for something like THIS......wow.....

Geez.

I got to the line about how she was in an out of the hospital for the first year of her son's life and that she "felt so guilty that she couldn't be there for him".

I guess I have a hard time empathizing with the creature that did this to her in the first place. I mean, I know its her son and all but if I found out I wouldn't be able to eat for the rest of my life, I certainly would not be focusing on having to leave my baby at home so I could be in the hospital to, you know, not die.
