Another reason they leave off men - men can have kids later in life...so, when can you say a man is CF?....
Most women understand there is a cut-off point and address the matter before that time...
Men can kid themselves for years....I know a couple of single men in their 50s that say, "if/when I have kids" like they have all the time in the world...
I suspect few actually go on to have kids...(unless they can attract a much younger woman who wants kids)
So, I suppose a man would only be regarded as CF/CL, if he's sterile or has taken permanent steps...but then, some might argue that the vasectomy could be reversed if he meets the right woman, changes his mind etc...

GREAT post, Deb. I've pondered the subject many times.

At 37, I chalk the subject up to "the great turntable," and I think at 34 or so, I was on the cusp.

When we as females were in our early and mid-20's, we could have any man we wanted, right? Young, old, no matter. When we get in our 30's and 40's, not so much (unless you're kinky and into the inexperienced).

MEN, however, had a different relational upbringing that we did. Men get in their late 30's, into 40's and even (*hack*) 50's and still think they're A-OK for breeding. Family. Something they missed or never had. Because they now have such a wider audience: 20-35 year-olds who want stability. What a great match ... for some.

I find it funny, being a member of Match.com, how many men seek women 10 and even 15 years younger than themselves.

Interesting: career or fertility problems. It's almost as if those two are "good" excuses to justify you not having kids and anything else would be too "frivolous".
sigh...

"SWDM, 50, 5'5", paunchy, bad skin, seeks soulmate. Must be 18-35, 5'2" - 5'4", 120 pounds or less, energetic, attractive. No baggage, please. Please love children...I have two from a previous marriage."

HOW MANY ads from schlubs like these are there out on the dating sites? Minus the honesty about the paunch, the bad skin, etc., that is!

Such experiences make me damned glad that I found someone for me that is truly compatible for me, without me having to endure the ... ugh ... "dating scene". For someone as shy as I am (and as worse off as I was back then!), I probably would have just given up rather than slog through that effort.
